Naina Kapur is a cynical student who lives with her mother, Jennifer, in New York. Her father's suicide and the gloomy atmosphere of her house have turned her into a pessimistic woman, who has lost interest in life. She has two best friends, her classmate Rohit, and her neighbour Jaspreet. Meanwhile, Jennifer and her neighbour run an unsuccessful restaurant to provide for their families. Soon, Aman and his mother move in next door to Naina.
